The August 8 Summer Flower Show at the Cobourg Library was a great success, with 17 members exhibiting 182 entries in a wide range of categories. The judge commented on the quality and variety of the exhibits, especially given the challenges this summer with many plants blooming earlier or later than expected.
Irene Flood won BEST IN SHOW for a splendid Lily, and Joanne Howes was awarded the JUDGE’S CHOICE for a beautiful interpretation of the Design class, titled BEE FRIENDLY.
About 100 people came to enjoy the Show and the Tea, where members had provided a great range and number of goodies. Many of the visitors were new to the Club and delighted to find a welcoming, cool spot for the afternoon (perhaps cooler than the Sandcastle Festival taking place on the beach that day!)
Many members volunteered to make the day run smoothly, from set up to take down, and serving the Tea.
